L'oreal Lash Architect False Lash Effect Mascara

Excuse the bags under my eyes - shattered is not the word!

Thought I'd put up these photos of the different coats of my favourite mascara - l'Oreal Lash Architect False Lash Effect - I LOVE this stuff!!

From top to bottom is adding more layers of mascara from no mascara at the top, to the third layer of mascara at the bottom. I just love the finished effect!

Soap and Glory Sexy Motherpucker review

I received this product in one of the gift bags that were in Boots around Christmas. I was lucky enough to receive one and so far have used this lip gloss (Punch Bowl) and the Thick and Fast mascara.

Today I've got some pictures of the lip gloss for you...

Top - bottom
Bare lips
Straight after applying
Ten minutes later once the prickling was starting to die down

I've used lip glosses from this range before and have loved them. I also used the extreme version.
Basically, you apply the lip gloss and then a few seconds later, your lips start prickling like crazy. It's the "strongest" prickle effect I've found from a lip plumping gloss!

I think that I'm fortunate in that my lips aren't thin to start with so I'm not sure how plumping the gloss actually is. I think I can see a slight plumping effect but more importantly, I LOVED the colour and texture of this gloss.

What plumping lip glosses do you use?

My everyday makeup look

So, as I work in a school, I like to keep my makeup much less dramatic than my usual tastes. However, I DO love makeup, and I would never go to work without anything on.

I start off with some primer to attempt to keep my make-up on all day. This Gosh Velvet Touch primer seems to do an OK job. I'm still not overly convinced about primers and whether they work brilliantly on me :-S My makeup still doesn't seem to last...any ideas anyone?

I love Bourjois foundations and this Healthy Mix one is my favourite. I am fortunate enough to not have too many blemishes to cover, and this is quite a light coverage foundation, but it definitely gets your glow on. My skin looks healthy and sheeny without being shiny.

The two concealers are my must-haves. The Clinique concealer is used underneath my eyes and using the tiniest bit instantly erases dark circles. It also has a de-puffing effect (if that's a technical term?!) which is essential for my early mornings. The Collection Lasting Perfection concealer must be familiar to many many many bloggers - I love it for covering the redness around my nose.

The rest of my face is Bourjois chocolate bronzer which is nearly nearly finished, Sleek Contour Kit in light, which I've just hit pan on, an ELF studio cream blush which I've owned for nearly a year and it looks barely touched (an AMAZING product!) and a Bourjois highlighter.

I also love MAC Paint in Bare Canvas to get rid of any discolouration on my eyelids before using my Naked palette to apply a neutral eye.

What make up do you wear to work? Do you go dramatic or natural?

I recently saw on Blonde Beauty Blogger's latest wishlist a pair of shoes that I fell in love with.
I also found out about Polyvore and so had fun creating this collage, including the shoes that I love!
Thanks to Blonde Beauty Blogger for sharing the shoes on her wishlist - my feet thank you but my wallet may not...if I purchase them!

NYC and 17 Lip Stains

17 lip stain  - I can't find the colour though :(

Swatches

The 17 lip stain has a balm on the end - this is the finished effect.

I LOVE lip stains for my work make-up or for a red lip. They last and last and last, especially that 17 one - I'm still scrubbing it off the next day.

A word of caution with lipstains however...they are very drying. Keep a tub of lipbalm handy and reapply often to save your poor lips from dehydration nightmare!

Are there any other lip stains you would recommend?

January Empties

I've never done an empties post but gathered up my empties over January (so far) and will do a mini review of each one.

Candy Mountain Bubble Bar from Lush
I think this was a Christmas special of the Creamy Candy bar. You crumble it into your bath, undermeath the hot tap, to get a sweet aroma and frothy bubbles. Lush says it has a vanilla and candy floss scent and whatever it is, it smells gorgeous. It's so sweet and sugary - if you love scents like this, this bubble bar would have been for you.

My other purchase from Lush, way back in November, was the moustache bubble wand. I bought it, in theory, to support The Boy during Movember. I liked the idea of this, but my moustache fell off my wand very early on and...well...boo :(

I bought this mascara from Fragrance Direct on a whim and OH MY GOSH - it became my new favourite mascara. The brush made it really easy to apply making my eyelashes fluttery and voluminous. I love it and am currently trying to use up all my other mascaras just so I can repurchase this one!

I think anyone who succumbs to hype will recognise the worn out packaging of Collection Lasting Perfection concealer. I've used up my first tube and have repurchased immediately. It's good for under-eyes, as a highlighter (shade 1) and I've used it to cover my spots. For the price, it's well worth purchasing.
I bought this moisturiser in a rush to replace my previous one. Not much to say, it did the job but no more than that if you know what I mean? My face was moisturised enough for the day without feeling greasy.

I get through hundreds of bottles of this stuff a year, or at least that's how it feels. It's my go-to deodorant, does what it says on the can!

Sleek Pout Paint

My favourite lip colour is pink, the brighter the better sometimes! And one of my favourite products for achieving a bright pink lip is the Sleek Pout Paint in Pinkini.

They have incredible staying power and are so pigmented that they're a struggle to get off fingers etc for days.

There's 11 shades in the collection which are designed to be mixed together to create your own bespoke shade. The most interesting shades to me are the white and blue, clearly designed for lightening shades and changing the tone of the colours.

This is the only shade I own from the collection and I've had it for a long long time and its barely used at all!
These are super pigmented lip paints, with neither a gloss nor a lipstick finish but something in between. The only downside is, as you can see, mine has separated a little. I do find that a good squeeze (with the lid on) and a shake does the trick for it though.

At present, I'm on a (wedding) budget and haven't purchased any others and so haven't tried the mixing of shades but I can see the appeal of this - I spend hours searching for lipsticks that are just the right colour whereas with these, I could easily mix it. And imagine the shades you could create - you'd probably never need to buy a lipstick again.

I used a pinprick of this colour for these lips.

It gave a gorgeous shade of pink that wasn't 'in-your-face' bright for a daytime look. Used like this, this product would never run out, I'm sure! Of course, the more you use, the deeper the finish. (Photo taken in evening with flash, shade a bit brighter in life but dark winter evenings are ruining my blog)

Daytime swatch on arm - I had a stain on my arm for hours after doing this swatch.

Fee over at Make Up Savvy posted a tutorial on how to make the Pout Paints into a tinted lip balm using Vaseline, I'm SO trying that this weekend!

Glitter nail varnish and MUA nail constellation

l-r MUA nail constellation in Pisces, Rimmel nail polish in Diamond Dust, Topshop nail polish in Ashes and Fire

Look at these bottles of joy! I received them all for Christmas and can't wait to use them!

This looks so summery - I'd love to wear this with a nude or pale pink nail, with this as an accent. I love it! It's so different to my other nail constellation (Scorpio, blogged here)

I've given this one a go briefly and loved it. It reminds me of a starry night and I think it would be a great polish to use in a galaxy mani like this one.

I've never tried a Topshop nail varnish before but I've been impressed with the quality of some of their make up so I can't wait to try this one. I'm just not sure what colour to put it over, maybe this 17 Holo polish??

Have you got any goodies in you "to-try" list??

January's Resolutions

photo credit: Express Monorail via photopin cc

  1. Begin the Wedding Diet - I lost two stone last year and put it back on instead of losing another stone as I wanted. SO now I've got three stone to lose. However, I know I can do it. So in January, I'd like to start the wedding diet and lose half a stone in January.
  2. Try and be more organised - I'm never going to organise a wedding if I'm unorganised.
